David and Goliath CHILDREN STORY by Babs Vorster (maiden name)

“Who is screaming like that?’ asks David, walking towards his brothers.

“What do you know man? Why are you not tending to the sheep?” asks one of David’s brothers.

David walks to other people standing nearby.  “Who is screaming like that?” he asks.

“It is the giant Goliath.  He wants one of us to fight him.  But how can we do that?  He is so huge.

“I will fight him,” says David.

“Ha-ha-ha” the people around David laughs.  “Such a young man, and he has the guts to fight a giant! Ha-ha-ha!”

David turns to Saul. “When a lion grabs one of my sheep, I follow it, kill it, and save my sheep from its mouth. I have killed lions and bears. Goliath will be like one of them because he is mocking the army of the living God. The Lord, who saved me from the claws of lions and bears, will save me from the hand of this giant.”

Will you go and fight Goliath, my friend?

“Go,” says Saul. May the Lord be with you.”

They try to fit Saul’s clothing to David, but David cannot move in them.  David takes it off and takes his staff in his hand.  He chooses 5 round and smooth pebbles from the stream and puts them in the bag hanging around his body.

“Lord, You are with me.  You are the only One who can help me now.  Please help me to overcome this giant that is mocking Your army.  Give me the courage and strength Lord.”

He moves towards the giant with his slingshot in his hand.

“Am I a dog that you come to me with sticks?” screams Goliath cursing David.

David looks up, up, up, and up to the giant. For a minute he gulps and his eyes widen as he looks at the length of the giant.  It feels like he wants to turn around and run away. Then he hears Goliath cursing him and his God.  This gives David new courage.

“You come against me with a sword and spear, but I come against you in the Name of the Lord God Almighty. The Lord is going to deliver you into my hands this day, and I will kill you. The Lord is going to deliver you all into our hands.

“Ho-ho-ho-ho” laughs the giant and begins to move closer to David.

“Lord, You are in control,” cries David, running toward the giant.

David stops, puts his hand into his bag, and takes a smooth pebble.

He puts it in his slingshot.

Swoosh, swoosh, swoosh he swings the slingshot above his head and lets go of it.

The pebble moves higher and higher and higher.

Kabam!  It hits Goliath right on his forehead and the pebble sinks right into his forehead.

Kadoef!, Goliath falls to the ground – dead as a doornail.

“Yippee! David has won!! The giant is dead!",’ shout the soldiers.   The Lord helped David to kill the giant! Hip-hip hooray!”

Remember friend: Jesus will always help you when you are scared and feel alone.  He is your only and best Friend in the whole world!

David en Goliat KINDERVERHAAL geskryf deur Babs Vorster (nooiensvan)

“Wie skreeu so?’ vra Dawid toe hy aangestap kom na sy broers toe.

“Ag wat weet jy man? Hoekom pas jy nie die skape op nie?” vra een van Dawid se broers.

Dawid stap na ander mense toe.  “Wie skreeu so?” vra hy vir hulle.

“Dit is die reus Goliat.  Hy wil hê een van ons moet teen hom gaan baklei. Maar hoe kan ons? Hy is so groot.

“Ek sal teen hom gaan baklei”, sê Dawid vir Saul.

“Ha-ha-ha” lag al die mense om Dawid.  “So jong man en hy sien kans om teen n reus te gaan baklei. Ha-ha-ha!”

Sal jy teen Goliat gaan baklei maatjie?

“Gaan, sê Saulus. Mag die Here by jou wees.”

“Here, U is met my.

11 DAY ROUTE FROM EGYPT TO CANAAN Day 12 Accepting Canaan!!!

 2024.10.167

Dearest Father, Jesus, and Holy Spirit

Here I am in Canaan, the promised land and I am so excited!!  I cannot wait to enter this new land, to begin a new life, to do things that You have planned for me even in my mother’s womb.

What if…

I  I do not like the new circumstances?

I  I am not able to do the things You ask of me?

I  I make mistakes again, big mistakes that cannot be rectified?

I  I cannot live with the money I receive?

I  I cannot go on in my circumstances?

I  I cannot buy myself a place to stay?

I  I have to live with my children for the rest of my life?

I  We have a big fight or my son asks me to leave?

I aI am scared…

I  Of the newness of everything

I  That I will just sit back and do nothing

I  That I would just get old and sit down, doing nothing

thI  To face the new me

I  To face new changes and challenges at my age

I  That I will just give over and not do anything

BBut:  I have already…

I  planted pot plants

I  bought tomatoes to plant in containers and let them hang down and eat fresh tomatoes every day

I  made a table of my talents, what I would love to do and what God wants me to do.

I  Begin to get excited about this new me, the new place, a new life

I  Tapped into a group and looked at available flats in the market.  Yes, it is not our neighborhood, but… I will adapt.  I am easily adaptable – lucky for that

I  Get rid of pride and everything that could hold me back

I  Organized my room so I could make food for myself if needed.

I  Accepted my circumstances

I  Made plans to move on with my life

I have to accept Canaan because…

I  This is where I am going to stay for the rest of my live

I  This is now the new me

I  God brought me to Canaan and kept me safe here

I  This is my new lifestyle

I  There is no other place I can go to

I  The desert and Red Sea are blocking me from going back to Egypt, and honestly, I never want to go back to Egypt again.  I’d rather stay here and face the newness of everything

I  This is the place You brought me to grow, expand my vision, be safe, and get peace in my life.

I  This is the promised land, where You are leading me into what I must do next!

I  This is the promised land where new excitement awaits me around every corner!  Why am I scared then?  It is going to be great.  I just have to take on the challenge.

I accept Canaan because…

I  It is new, exciting, and a vibrant new life for me to explore. I am just scared to start, scared that I will enjoy it more than I ever thought possible

I  God brought me out of Egypt and He thinks this new life is where I belong

I  I have a chance at a new life, new hope and new beginnings

I  It is the promised land, where God will take care of me.  How could I ever have doubted that?

I  The Lord will lead the way and take me on the right paths

I  Even if I make mistakes, God will help me straighten them out.  It is better to try and fail, than not to have tried at all.

I  It has the promise of being a wonderful land with new adventures waiting and new things just around the corner for me

I  I will be able to use my talents to God’s honor. And God will lead me on this road with kindness and goodness and show me the better way

I  It is soooo much better than Egypt was!

I  It is a new life, a new beginning, a new everything.

I  I get a second chance at life without a husband to hold me back.  Life will just be what I make of it now.  No excuses or hiding behind someone else.

I  I want and need a new challenge in life, something that I can look forward to

I  You are there Lord, and I know You always watch out for me, lead me where You want me, and equip me!

I  This is the land You promised me years ago and I accept it now with thankfulness in my heart

I  You will lead me through green pastures and let me rest in You

Thank You Lord for …

I  Canaan and everything You have planned for me

I  Leading me out of Egypt, through the desert to this promised land

I  Being with me every step of my life!

I  Bringing me to a place where I am alone to make decisions You want me to make and to serve You with everything in me

I  Your kindness, goodness, and mercy over me

I  Holding my hand when I felt so alone in the desert

I  Giving me hope when things went so wrong in my life!!!

I  Bringing me to a place where I have peace

I  Helping me to say no to people – I think for the first time in my life!!!

I  Just holding me very close to Your heart and teaching me what I need to do every step of the way

I  Understanding that I am scared of this new road I have taken, but that You comfort me and lead me slowly into what You want me to do

I  Your patience with me, all the years in Egypt and now here in the promised land

I  Walking this road with me and never leaving me alone for one minute

I  Just being my best Friend in the universe and for understanding me, yet still loving me

I  Your goodness, mercy, and goodness

I  Canaan… the promised land

I accept…

I  Canaan … the promised land

I  Every challenge You will bring on my road

I  You helping me to bring my talents to the front and keeping them at the front

I  Your help and hand in my new life

I  You as my Leader, my Helper, my best Friend in the universe and my Adviser at all times

I  The challenges lying ahead

I  You as my only Helper, the only One that will always be there for me

I  You as the only One who really cares about me and my well-being

I  Your rules, Your regulations, Your Leadership in my life

I  Just resting in You if things are getting too much for me

I  That, from this day, I do not have a husband and I am not taking him into Canaan.  Please look at him Lord and help him to turn back to You

I  What You want for me in life Lord, only what You want

I  Loving You forever and You as my Bridegroom

I  That I will listen to my Bridegroom at all times and follow Your lead

I  Canaan as my new home until You want me to move to another place.  I will not kick against the spurs Lord, but will accept every step of this journey.

I  That my eyes, ears, heart, body, soul, and being is now open only to God’s Leadership!!!

I  Every challenge that You bring me, Lord.  But please help me if I feel too weak and make me excited about the challenges You give me, because You know I can do it!

I  You, just You Father, Jesus, Holy Spirit

I  You as my Everything, the One I will run to with everything!!

I  This wonderful land You have given me and all the opportunities that go with it

I  You as my only Advisor, the One I will listen to and whose voice I will hear very clearly above everything else.  Thank You for that!!!

I  Only You and the promised land in my life – nothing else that You do not allow in my life!!!

Thank You for Canaan Lord!!!!!!!!!!!
